Over-the-counter deals with bonds of telecom operator SpectrumNet brought BGN 2 million in turnover for the Bulgarian Stock Exchange (BSE) in Tuesday’s session.
Mining company Kaolin also made it into investors’ spotlight on the unregulated market.
Regulated trade was again marred by derisory volumes, with cosmetics maker Astera Cosmetics contributed 40% of the total turnover. The shares ended 42.86% lower at BGN 4 apiece.
A bunch of other companies also moved into focus, in particular drug maker Sopharma, which added 1% to finish the session at BGN 3.95 per share.
The benchmark SOFIX index of the blue chips staged a minor drop to 385.11 points. The broader BG40 dipped as much to close at 109.5 points. Only the sector index BGREIT gained some ground, reaching 40.65 points as three of the four companies it tracks clawed into positive territory.
Hard plastic packaging producer Formoplast skyrocketed nearly 54% to BGN 0.94 per share.
On global markets, the Dow and the S&P 500 tumbled around 40%, whereas the Nasdaq retreated almost 1% amid worries that the global economic recovery is losing steam thanks to the Japanese yen’s protracted slide against the US dollar.
